Denso Named GM Supplier of the Year

Denso International America, Southfield, MI, earned a General Motors Supplier of the Year Award for 2006, for its overall business performance in providing GM with world-class parts and services. The award, themed the “Best of the Best,” recognizes Denso for its heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, windshield wipers, fuel injectors and navigation system. Denso is online at

Trumpf Opens Mexican Manufacturing Facility

Trumpf Inc., Farmington, CT, has opened a new sales, service, demonstration and production facility in Monterrey, Mexico. The 6400-sq.-m building employs 24 and will produce frames for Trumpf machinery. It also houses a 420-sq.-m showroom open to Mexican fabricators and manufacturers for tours and technology demonstrations.
Dura Announces Restructuring Plans

Yesterday, Dura Automotive Systems, Inc., Rochester Hills, MI, announced that as a continuation of its 50-cubed strategic initiative, it proposes to close four manufacturing facilities: Brownstown, IN; Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada; Hannibal South, MO; and Selinsgrove, PA. Dura’s 50-cubed strategic initiative, launched in February 2006, established heightened performance goals in quality, worldwide efficiency and profitability. The initiative included a restructuring plan projected to result in the closure of as many as 10 manufacturing facilities worldwide by the end of 2007.
As a result of yesterday’s announcements, the firm expects to move production, equipment and assembly lines to its facilities in Matamoros, Mexico; Gordonville and Milan, TN; Stockton, IL and Elkhart, IN.
