Stretcher Levelers Added to Steel-Processing Lines
to Flatten Material, Tackle Springback

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

Ratner Steel, Roseville, MN, installed a pair of stretcher levelers, from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL, onto existing steel-processing lines. The new equipment improves stock flattening and relieves trapped stresses to eliminate the possibility of springback. One stretcher leveler can process material to ¼ in. thick and 100,000-PSI yield strength; the second unit can handle material to ½ in. thick and 75,000-PSI yield strength (3/8 in. thick and 100,000-PSI yield). Learn more at www.redbudindustries.com. Ratner Steel processes flat-rolled carbon and high-strength low-alloy steel, offering cut-to-length, coil slitting, custom blanking and shearing; www.ratnersteel.com.

PMA Annual Technical Conference
a Stimulus Package for the Industry

Friday, April 03, 2009

To help metalformers meet their ongoing training needs during these tough economic times, the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) has reduced registration feeds for its upcoming Technical Conference, April 26-28 in Cleveland, OH. PMA member companies can send one person to attend the conference for just $245 ($295 for nonmembers), and additional attendees for just $85 each ($115 for nonmembers. You must register by April 9 to qualify for these reduced rates, and to enter a drawing to win a $100 American Express gift card.
Just added to the keynote panel: Dr. Ken Mayland, a nationally renowned economic forecaster and president of ClearView Economics, LLC. Mayland will join keynote panelists David Darling, director of operations at MB Tech, and moderator Michael Collins, president of MPC management, in a panel discussion to help small to mid-market manufacturers survive the current economic plight.
The PMA Technical Conference has been developed to meet the needs of management and technical personnel at every level, addressing best practices and new technology and its applications. For more information, visit www.pma.org/annual-tech-conference, or call 216/901-8800.
