Cleveland Motion Controls, Inc., Cleveland, OH, acquired NEE Controls, of the UK and Maumee, OH. NEE manufactures microprocessor-based motion controls for routing, engraving and milling. CMC makes motion-control equipment including motors, drives and numerical controls.

Universal Die & Stampings (UDS), Prairie du Sac, WI, was one of 18 manufacturers that recently received the 2004 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award for manufacturing excellence. The annual competition is co-sponsored by law firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, accounting and consulting firm Virchow, Krause & Co., and business association Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce.
UDS won in the category “Excelling Against All Odds,” noting that its sales increased 26 percent during the last three years and that it was able to double its contract stampings to support global customers. The firm manufactures high-speed stampings such as battery caps, relays, motor laminations and washers. It’s a certified Woman Owned Small Business.
