Dura Announces Restructuring Plans

Yesterday, Dura Automotive Systems, Inc., Rochester Hills, MI, announced that as a continuation of its 50-cubed strategic initiative, it proposes to close four manufacturing facilities: Brownstown, IN; Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada; Hannibal South, MO; and Selinsgrove, PA. Dura’s 50-cubed strategic initiative, launched in February 2006, established heightened performance goals in quality, worldwide efficiency and profitability. The initiative included a restructuring plan projected to result in the closure of as many as 10 manufacturing facilities worldwide by the end of 2007. As a result of yesterday’s announcements, the firm expects to move production, equipment and assembly lines to its facilities in Matamoros, Mexico; Gordonville and Milan, TN; Stockton, IL and Elkhart, IN.

Ulbrich Acquires Delta Precision Alloys

Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, Inc., North Haven, CT, has acquired Delta Precision Alloys, Montgomeryville, PA. The renamed Delta Ulbrich Precision Metals becomes part of the Ulbrich Specialty Wire Group, which specializes in shaping, drawing, rolling and plating custom-engineered wire-based products. New Machine-Safeguarding Seminar
