PIAB Opens Subsidiary in India

Vacuum-conveying and automation-system provider PIAB, based in Sweden and with North American headquarters near Boston, MA, will open its 18th subsidiary in Chennai, India. Operations will begin in June to support its distribution network and provide training and technical support. Former Ford Stamping Plant Begins New Life

The former Ford Motor Co. Maumee (OH) stamping plant, resurrected as employee-owned Maumee Authority Stamping Inc., has begun work in its first contract. The plant recently installed two spin-forming production lines in a 10,000-sq.-ft. section of the 800,000-sq.-ft. facility to begin manufacturing catalytic-converter parts that will be assembled in Tennessee and sold as aftermarket parts through Ford’s parts and service network.

Robot Manufacturer Opens Canadian Subsidiary

German robot manufacturer Kuka Roboter GmbH has formed a wholly owned subsidiary in Canada, Kuka Robotics Canada, Ltd., to provide local sales, service and support to existing customers and work with integrators to provide turnkey systems. The firm also recently announced the formation of a strategic alliance with Flow International Corp., Kent, WA, developer and manufacturer of ultrahigh-pressure waterjet-machining technology.
