Dofasco Forms New Tubular Products Unit

Dofasco Inc. has announced that its tube-making facilities in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Monterrey, Mexico, and Marion, OH, will operate as one business unit with the goal of better service to North American automotive and tubular customers. Bill Chisholm will oversee the unit, called Dofasco Tubular Products.
Under the new organization, Dofasco de Mexico and Dofasco Marion Inc. will remain as wholly owned facilities while the two tube mills in Hamilton will remain as part of Hamilton steel operations.
Dofasco Tubular Products can manufacture approximately 550,000 tons/year of value-added tubular product primarily for automotive applications.
AMT to Open Service, Tech Center in China

The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), McLean, VA, will open a service and technology center in China to help U.S. builders of machine-tool equipment sell products in what is now the world’s largest market for machine tools and manufacturing equipment. Location is to be determined, with the opening slated for sometime in late 2003. The center will join two other AMT offices in China: the Beijing representative Office and the Shanghai Liaison Office.
