Nucor, Mitsui Combine to Form
New Investment-Minded Company

NuMit LLC is the name of a newly created company owned 50-50 by Nucor Corp. and Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. NuMit expects to invest in various steel-related activities around the world. Investment one: taking on the assets of Steel Technologies LLC, which operates 23 North American sheet-processing facilities. Steel Technologies will assume implementation responsibilities for a new Greenfield flat-rolled processing center to be built in Monterrey, Mexico, a project previously announced by Nucor to include pickling, slitting and cut-to-length capabilities.
Steel Shipments Decline in February

The American Iron and Steel Institute reported late last week its February 2010 shipping statistics, revealing a 4.1 percent decrease in net tons shipped compared to January 2010. However, February shipments (6.3 million net tons) were up 46.1 percent over year-earlier levels. More at
