The Price for Japanese Steel to Rise

According to a story last week from the Agence France Presse, Japanese steelmakers expect to raise prices of sheet steel by five to 10 percent in April, due to rising prices—as much as 20 to 30 percent--for iron and coal. The country’s largest steelmaker, Nippon Steel, and other suppliers are negotiating with major customers including carmakers and shipbuilders.

Robotics Conference Set for June in Michigan

Robots 2004, designed for manufacturing, engineering and management leaders at companies considering or using robotics technology, will be held June 9-10, 2004, at the Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest Resort, Ypsilanti, MI.
The conference, sponsored by Robotics Industry Association (RIA), examines cost justification for automating with robotics, manufacturing applications and safety. Speakers also will focus on successful case histories and advances in traditional robot applications such as material handling, welding, painting and material removal. In addition, the conference will feature table-top exhibits from robotics companies.
