Red Stag Earns Patent for Cushion-Control Software

Red Stag Engineering & Automation, Inc., Waupaca, WI, has received copyright patent registration for the software that controls an intelligent hydraulic cushion for mechanical presses. To optimize control of binder pressure, the software allows for programming of stroke and hydraulic force of each cushion cylinder—each parameter can be changed more than eight times as the press ram cycles from the 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock position at production speeds. South Texas Welcomes New
Rapid Response Manufacturing Center

The North American Advanced Manufacturing Research and Education Initiative (NAAMREI) has completed phase of its plan to help south-Texas manufacturers rapidly turn ideas into finished products, with the April 11 opening of the Rapid Response Manufacturing Center at The University of Texas-Pan American, in Edinburg, TX. NAAMREI is an alliance of 60 business, education, economic development, industry, finance and government partners in south Texas. Its new manufacturing center will recruit and train the skilled workforce needed for the advanced manufacturing infrastructure they hope to create. Ultimately, NAAMREI hopes to tie together more than 41 industrial parks across the region. Learn more at
