South Texas Welcomes New
Rapid Response Manufacturing Center

The North American Advanced Manufacturing Research and Education Initiative (NAAMREI) has completed phase of its plan to help south-Texas manufacturers rapidly turn ideas into finished products, with the April 11 opening of the Rapid Response Manufacturing Center at The University of Texas-Pan American, in Edinburg, TX. NAAMREI is an alliance of 60 business, education, economic development, industry, finance and government partners in south Texas. Its new manufacturing center will recruit and train the skilled workforce needed for the advanced manufacturing infrastructure they hope to create. Electronics Manufacturer Acquires Metal-Alloy Producer

Ametek, Inc., Paoli, PA, a manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, acquired Reading Alloys, a privately held niche specialty-metals producer. Reading Alloys, Robesonia, PA, produces titanium master alloys and engineered metal powders. It joins Ametek’s electromechanical group.
Balluff Acquires Capacitive-Sensor Manufacturer

German-based capacitive-sensor manufacturer SIE Sensorik, with U.S. offices in Toledo, OH, has been acquired by Balluff, Inc., a manufacturer of inductive, capacitive, photoelectric, magnetoresistive, magnetostrictive, RFID and vision sensors. Balluff, a subsidiary of Balluff GmbH, maintains its North American headquarters is in Florence, KY;
