Schuler Awarded Two Major Orders

Valued together at $52.5 million (U.S.), Schuler Inc. has received two major orders in Europe for its newly developed compact crossbar transfer press. The first of the new-generation presses will be supplied to the GM/Opel Antwerp plant. Ford will then start production on one of the new crossbar transfer presses at its plant in Saarlouis, Germany.
Cleveland Toll Processor Upgrades Capabilities

Ferrous Metal Processing, Cleveland, OH, has acquired a four-high cold-reduction reversing mill that will enable its customers to send their product over for temper rolling to improve flatness, gauge and surface, as well as for cold reduction. The mill should be operational by first quarter of 2003. It can roll steel from 0.037 to 0.312 in. thick, 18.5 to 62 in. wide. FMP is rebuilding and retrofitting the mill for carbon grades, to provide gauge tolerances of plus or minus 0.0005 in.
Batesville Tool & Die Welcomes U.S. Congressman

On April 2, 2002, United States Congressman Baron Hill (D-IN) visited metal stamper Batesville Tool & Die, Inc., Batesville, IN. Congressman Hill, who represents the 9th district of Indiana, listened as BT&D president Jody Fledderman presented facts and statistics on the effects that the recently announced steel tariffs will have on steel-consuming companies.
