Butech Scrap Choppers Headed Into Production

Butech, Inc., Salem, OH, announces two recent orders for its new patented dual-arbor helical-cut scrap chopper. Taylor Steel Co., Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, will install a Model SC251-1 scrap chopper on an existing 0.135- by 72-in. slitting line to process edge-trim scrap from cold-rolled, galvanized and HRP&O steel coils at speeds to 1000 ft./min.
Aluminum producer Elval S.A., Inofita, Greece, will fit a Model SCM04-1 metric scrap chopper to an existing 0.060- by 72-in. slitting line to process scrap from 1000-, 3000-, and 5000-series aluminum alloys at speeds to 2000 ft./min.

Illinois Stampers Consolidate

Laystrom Manufacturing Co., Chicago, IL, has acquired contract precision stamper Grant Industries, Elk Grove Village, IL, and plans to consolidate operations at Laystrom’s 65,000-sq.-ft. Chicago plant. Laystrom plans to employ many of Grant’s employees, including general manager Jim Scotkowski.
