Mexico City Automotive Tradeshow
to Feature U.S. Exhibitor Pavilion

The PAACE Automechanika automotive-industry tradeshow scheduled for July 13-15, 2011, at the Centro Banamex Fairgrounds in Mexico City, will feature a United States Exhibitor Pavilion. The pavilion will be organized by Messe Frankfurt, on behalf of the U.S. Commercial Service, which is promoting the event to potential buyers of U.S. manufactured automotive parts. Carrier-Monterrey World’s First
HVAC Plant to Earn LEED Gold

The U.S. Green Building Council awarded the Carrier Corp. plant in Monterrey, Mexico, its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. The facility is the first HVAC factory in the world to receive the certification. A comprehensive energy audit by the plant, and corresponding investments, have improved its energy performance by 37 percent compared to similar factories. Key projects include converting lights to high-efficiency low-mercury bulbs, and replacing large compressors with smaller units to optimize load sharing. The facility also instituted a night power-outage plan, shutting down power in all circuits not used during evening hours.
