Great Designs in Steel Presentations

Presentations from the Great Designs in Steel Seminar 2005, held March 9 in Livonia, MI, are now available for download at www.autosteel.org. The seminar was organized and presented by the steel-producer members of the Automotive Applications Committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute. It drew 1328 attendees and offered 30 presentations, one third of which were given by automotive OEMs. Nine presentations addressed fabrication with advanced high-strength steels.

Production stamper and tool-and-die builder M.S. Willett, Inc., Cockeysville, MD, has redesigned its website, www.mswillett.com. The updated site includes short movie clips demonstrating the firm’s ability to design, develop, manufacture and automate metal stampings and assemblies. M.S. Willett provides a range of secondary operations including automated resistance welding, in-die and offline tapping and robotic welding. Its Tool & Die Group, known for high-speed transfer systems, designs and builds tools and dies, custom automation machines and production systems for sheetmetal components and light metal packaging.

Laser-System Builder Opens Offices in China

GSI Lumonics, Farmington Hills, MI, and Rugby, England, has opened two regional sales offices in mainland China—in Shanghai and in Beijing. The offices will handle the firm’s complete range of laser products, including its JK Industrial Nd:YAG series for cutting, welding and drilling, and its Lumonics series of CO2 lasers.
