Rollforming-Equipment Provider Closes UK Operation

Metform Engineering Ltd, Dudley, United Kingdom, a manufacturer of coil-processing equipment, has closed. Metform owners, pointing to the successful performance of a sister company that manufactures the same equipment, Metform International Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, opted not to continue operations in the United Kingdom. The Canadian operation, owing to the effectiveness of electronic communications and economical transportation services, will be able to serve markets formerly served by the UK operation, according to the owners. In fact, Metform International Ltd. recently was awarded a contract from a UK company and also gained contracts for rollforming lines in Canada, Mexico and Columbia. For more, visit

Robotics Conference Set for June in Michigan

Robots 2004, designed for manufacturing, engineering and management leaders at companies considering or using robotics technology, will be held June 9-10, 2004, at the Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest Resort, Ypsilanti, MI. The conference, sponsored by Robotics Industry Association (RIA), examines cost justification for automating with robotics, manufacturing applications and safety. Speakers also will focus on successful case histories and advances in traditional robot applications such as material handling, welding, painting and material removal. Schmidt Feintechnik Becomes Schmidt Technology

Schmidt Technology Corp. is the new name for what had been Schmidt Feintechnik GmbH, a Germany-based manufacturer of hand-operated, air and electric-motor-powered presses. The North American headquarters remains in Cranberry Township, PA.
