Governor Attends Hypertherms Grand Opening

The ribbon was cut on Monday, March 4, to inaugurate the new 160,000-sq.-ft. home of Hypertherm, Hanover, NH, and among those in attendance was New Hampshire governor Maggie Hassan.  The new LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) certified facility includes advanced R & D space, training classrooms and engineering labs. Hypertherm manufactures equipment and software for laser, waterjet and plasma-arc cutting;

Robot Duo Stars in Fabricators New Welding Cell

D&S Manufacturing, a custom manufacturer of large-scale components and assemblies for Caterpillar, Oshkosh Corp. and others, has added a new dual-robot arc-welding cell to its plant in Black River Falls, WI. The cell, developed and integrated by Wolf Robotics, Fort Collins, CO, features two ABB six-axis robots, a pair of Lincoln Electric welding power supplies and a servo-driven twin-station positioner, all controlled by one ABB IRCS MultiMove control. “Load-and-go fixturing eliminates the need to perform manual tack welding prior to loading components into the positioner,” says D&S continuous-improvement manager Joe Lane. To optimize quality and throughput, the cell includes touch sensing and seam tracking capabilities;

Bazz Houston Plants Earn Aerospace-Industry Registration

The U.S. and Mexican facilities of Bazz Houston, a manufacturer of springs, stampings, wireforms and other custom metal products, have been registered to AS9011C, the quality-management standard covering the aerospace industry. The facilities, also ISO 901:2008 registered, are in Garden Grove, CA, and Tijuana;
