Allegheny Technologies to Acquire J&L

Allegheny Technologies Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, will acquire the assets of J&L Specialty Steel, Coraopolis, PA, with plants in Midland, PA, and Louisville, OH. J&L, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based Arcelor, provides flat-rolled stainless-steel products. Allegheny is making the acquisition, targeted to close May 3, 2004, through its wholly owned ATI subsidiary, which makes sheet, plate and strip specialty materials, including stainless steel, nickel-based alloys and titanium-based alloys.
Robot and Assembly Shows
to Run Side-by-Side in 2005

The International Robots and Vision Show (produced by the Robotic Industries Association and the Automated Imaging Association) and the Assembly Technology Expo (produced by Reed Exhibitions) will be co-located in 2005, slated for September 27-29 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. The two shows put, under one roof, more than 850 suppliers of automation technology, including robotics, machine vision and assembly equipment.
Delphi Expanding in China

Delphi Corp. will expand its manufacturing capability at its plant in Suzhou, China. According to www.waitnews.com, Delphi will invest $40.5 million in the plant to build two new manufacturing modules for its electronics and safety division. The first module project is slated for completion by third-quarter 2004 and will include the entire production process, from circuit-board assembly to packaging and testing.
