Service Center Adds Heavy-Gauge Slitter

TCT Stainless Steel, Inc., Lebanon, TN, has commissioned a new 64-in.-wide heavy-gauge (0.035 to 0.3125 in.) Emag slitter. The machine can handle coils to 40,000 lb. and 72-in. OD, and includes an Alcos eight-position carousel packing line. The new slitter joins the firm’s 20-in. Stanat light-gauge slitter commissioned late in 2012. Learn more at www.tctstainless.com/.

IPG Engineers to Use New Laser-Machining Center to Study Aerospace Applications for Laser Drilling

Prima Power Laserdyne, Champlin, MN, has sold a Laserdyne 795 XS six-axis laser-machining center to IPG Photonics for use at its facility in Russia. Engineers will configure the machine with a variety of IPG fiber lasers to study percussion and trepanning of aerospace-quality holes. “This combination may be a game changer for aerospace manufacturing,” says Laserdyne vice president of sales Mark Barry.
