Military-Vehicle Armor-Kit Contract

LAI International, Inc., Scottsdale, AZ, has signed a manufacturing contract to produce armor kits for mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) military vehicles. LAI will produce the armor kits at its manufacturing facility in Westminster, MD, for its customer, Navistar Defense LLC, which received a contract from the Pentagon for 4475 of its 21-ft.-long MaxxPro MRAP vehicles. LAI will shop the kits to the Navistar assembly plant in West Point, MS.
LAI operates five U.S. manufacturing plants, all ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 certified, and offers precision laser processing, waterjet cutting, five-axis machining and other services. Learn more at www.laico.com

NHK Spring Precision of America, Inc. (NSPA ), Louisville, KY, has deployed the Plexus Online on-demand integrated manufacturing software package from Plexus Systems, Auburn Hills, MI. The Plexus software features these functions: enterprise-resource management, accounting and finance; customer-relationship-management features such as order entry and tracking; manufacturing-execution-system functions such as production scheduling; and supply-chain management functions such as supplier quality and traceability. NSPA, which produces springs for engine valves and automatic transmissions, worked with consultants from Plante & Moran to identify Plexus as the ideal hosted solution for its needs.
