Prototype/Short-Run Metalformer
Welcomes Automated Five-Axis Laser-Cutting Cell
Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Matrix Metalcraft, Clinton Township, MI, has purchased a model VZ1 five-axis laser-cutting cell from Mitsubishi Laser, equipped with an automated pallet changer to optimize process time and increase capacity. The machine offers a 122-in. x axis, 87-in. y axis and 33-in. z axis. Pallet changes take 60 sec. Matrix specializes in prototype and short-run production using these processes: stamping, three- and five-axis laser cutting, machining, turning and assembly;

Seminar Addresses a Hot
Metalforming Topic: Hot Stamping
Monday, March 17, 2008
The hot-stamping metalforming process has picked up a lot of steam in recent months for forming automotive safety components, A & B pillars and other parts made of difficult-to-form advanced-high-strength steels. That’s why the timing of this one-day seminar on hot stamping couldn’t be better. The seminar, scheduled for April 16 in Dearborn, MI, will review part design for hit stamping; hot-stamping-line automation and integration; tool design, build and debug; hydraulic-press and furnace technology; automated quick-die-change systems; and pre- and post-processing. AP&T hosts the event; learn more at
