Future Products Adds Five-Axis CNC Machining Center

A new Hermle C 400 five-axis CNC machining center has landed on the production floor of Future Products, Clawson, MI, a manufacturer of precision die tooling and machined components.  The machine excels in milling complex geometries while retaining precision and optimum surface finishes. “We are proud to be the first company in the United States to install this state-of-the-art machine,” says company president Irvin Swider. In addition to five-axis machining, Future Products, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, performs wire and sinker EDM, turning and milling, surface grinding and jig grinding;


Trumpf Cuts the Ribbon on New Laser-Development Facility

A new 6200-sq.-m facility in Schramberg-Sulgen, Germany, has become the home of solid-state laser development for Trumpf Laser GmbH + Co. The project, an investment of 13.5 million euros, allows the firm to consolidate all of its laser-development efforts under one roof. Included are laser-testing laboratories, a climate-controlled chamber, offices and conference rooms. More at

Moeller Precision Tool No Longer Land Locked

To launch its aggressive 20-yr. expansion plan built on a foundation of additional specialized machining equipment, Moeller Precision Tool has moved from its 37,000-sq.-ft. land-locked facility in Plymouth, MI, to a 77,000-sq.-ft. facility in Wixom, MI, with ample land to allow the company to double in size.  With the move to Wixom the firm has acquired seven new large pieces of machining equipment, and plans to add three more later in 2013. It’s also grown its employee count by 15 percent. Moeller Precision manufactures punches, die buttons, retainers and other piercing products, and nitrogen and mechanical gas springs. The firm also performs contract machining and 3D part digitizing;
