Worthington Steel Acquires Gibraltar Assets

The steel-processing business segment of Worthington Industries, Columbus, OH, acquired the steel-processing assets of Gibraltar Industries, Inc., in Cleveland, OH. The acquisition provides Worthington the ability to roll wider and lighter-gauge materials along with performing oscillate slitting. Included in the transaction are the equipment and inventory of the Gibraltar facility in Buffalo, NY, and a warehouse in Detroit, MI.


Stamping-Company Chairman Honored
for Entrepreneurship

The Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ, announced that Frank Semcer, Sr., chairman of Micro Stamping, Somerset, NJ, has been named the first recipient of its new Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The award recognizes institute alumni that exhibit a “pioneering vision and business savvy.” The press release announcing the award praises Micro Stamping’s “21st century manufacturing facility,” with robotic equipment, a clean room for sterile operations and dedicated research and development space. Semcer served on the Stevens Institute Board of Trustees through the 1990s, and employs students enrolled in the Stevens Cooperate Education program to work directly with Micro Stamping’s engineers as they design new products at the company’s Somerset headquarters. Western Michigan Stamper Comes to Toyota’s Rescue
