SKI Industries Creates Bending-Machine

SKI Industries, Inc., Shelby Township, MI, has created Forming Technologies LLC, a company that designs and builds standard and special automatic and semi-automatic bending machines for tubing, solid stock or extruded materials. The company also provides repair, rebuild and retrofit services for other bending-machine models.
Forming Technologies has established a product line that includes SKI shape and tube benders offered in CNC and semi-automatic models with diameter capacities from 0.25 to 6 in. Also offered are control retrofits and upgrades that feature BendPro multi-axis bender controls; a complete stock of replacement parts for the Pines line of benders; and complete repair, rebuild and retrofit services for manual and CNC benders of all makes. In addition, the company has developed and applied for patents on Most, a new manual orienting and sequencing attachment that reportedly provides simple adjustments for part rotation and orientation.

U.S. and Canada Consider Unified Steel Market

Diplomats from Canada and the United States are discussing the creation of a single North American market for steel that may include a pledge to avoid duties levied during trade disputes, or perhaps the establishment of a customs union under NAFTA. The topic is under discussion this week during meetings (Feb. 4-5)in Washington between Canadian Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans.
