Stimulus Funds Support New,
Energy-Efficient Coating Line

American Trim, Lima, OH, plans to install a new protective-film coating line that will use UV light to cure the coatings. The new line will reduce energy consumption by 95 percent compared to using thermally cured coatings. American Trim received $994,000 from the State Energy Plan to help fund the installation, which will coat products for the alternative-energy, automotive and appliance industries. Learn more at

Guelph Metalformer/Fabricator Receives
Ontario Development-Program Funding

Melitron Corp., Guelph, Ontario, Canada, a full-service contract manufacturer of precision metal components, electronic chassis, enclosures, frames and the like, received a $400,000 grant from the Southern Ontario Development Program (SODP). The firm expects to use the funds to install new equipment and upgrade its facility by reconfiguring its equipment layout to implement lean-manufacturing principles. It also plans to undertake an energy-savings initiative to reduce consumption of electricity, natural gas and water. The project is among more than 60 projects funded by the SODP through 2010. U.S., Mexican Auto-Parts Groups Form Partnership

The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), Southfield, MI, and Industria Nacional de Autopartes (INA), Mexico City, have formed a collaborative partnership. The two groups, which represent automotive OEMs and parts manufacturers in their respective countries, will share information and resources, and also collaborate on projects of common interest on behalf of their member companies. Also, member companies will enjoy discounts for the organizations’ publications, training and events. AIAG and INA expect to work together to organize a U.S. Mexico Supply Chain Leadership Forum.
