U.S., Mexican Auto-Parts Groups Form Partnership

The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), Southfield, MI, and Industria Nacional de Autopartes (INA), Mexico City, have formed a collaborative partnership. The two groups, which represent automotive OEMs and parts manufacturers in their respective countries, will share information and resources, and also collaborate on projects of common interest on behalf of their member companies. Also, member companies will enjoy discounts for the organizations’ publications, training and events. AIAG and INA expect to work together to organize a U.S. Mexico Supply Chain Leadership Forum. Martinrea to Expand Stamping/Assembly Plant

Martinrea Automotive Structures has broken ground on a new 53,000-sq.-ft. addition to its plant in Verona, MS, and plans to add 50 new jobs when the expansion work is completed later this year. The $7.7 million investment will go toward a new crane bay and added tool and die storage capacity, as the plant takes on new production work. It’s the company’s fourth expansion of the facility since taking it over from Thyssenkrupp Fabco in 2003. The facility manufactures underbody stampings and assemblies for Nissan and Honda.

Tim Dining, president and CEO of Greenerd Press & Machine Co., Inc., Nashua, NH, had the distinguished honor of introducing President Barack Obama at the Town Meeting Style Forum held on Feb. 2 at Nashua North High School. In his introduction, Dining called for the need for constructive economic policies and investment incentives for small U.S. businesses. In addition to his role with Greenerd Press, a manufacturer of hydraulic press equipment, Dining also serves as chairman of the Board of Advisors for the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center and as a director for The Association for Manufacturing Technology.
