Charter Mfg. Acquires European
Powertrain-Components Maker

Charter Manufacturing Co., Mequon, WI, has purchased Valve Train Components Limited (VTC), Lichfield, England, a manufacturer of powertrain components including precision valve collets, manual transmission keys and related stampings. VTC becomes part of Charter’s Milwaukee Wire Products Division, while continuing to manufacture in England. Milwaukee Wire Products offers metalforming, wire stamping and forming, tube bending and forming and other services to produce valve-spring retainers, valve keys, retaining rings and fluid-level indicators; VTC earned the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in 2004, honoring it for sustained export growth. MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division, Cary, NC, has unveiled the first phase of its website redesign, with secure value-added information access for customers. The website,, offers customized content by region, maintaining a local business culture. A new product generator, powered by 3D PartStream.NET, provides access to an interactive online 3D part catalog. Customers can use it to build a product, view it and then download 2D or 3D CAD drawings of the product. The product generator also provides a part number and allows the customer to request a quote.
