Industrial B2B Site Operates in Five Languages
Wednesday, February 02, 2005
Visitors to
www.directindustry.com can navigate via one of five languages, making the business-to-business portal for industrial equipment and components a true worldwide destination. In fact, site officials claim more than 4000 manufacturers and industry buyers worldwide. The site offers supplier search, documentation and quotation requests, and product updates, all linked to an exhibitor’s own website. To come are detailed product specifications, ability to download 3D CAD files and online technical assistance. Users can search by keyword or product/industry category. Exhibitor information is updated constantly, with 20,000 industrial products available in the site database and 800 new products posted every month. DirectIndustry officials report 660,000 monthly site visitors as well as 82,000 sales contacts made per month.
To maintain a high level of data quality, say company officials, the portal employs three engineers to supervise new-product presentation and help exhibitors choose the correct keywords and category definitions. Other reported exhibitor benefits include instant e-mailed requests for quotations and documentation; automatic forwarding of requests to the relevant local contact; a tool that allows secure business-contact follow-up; the ability to constantly update content; e-mail press-release distribution; and the services of a personal client service manager.
