The American Small Manufacturers Coalition (ASMC), Washington, D.C., has launched a study to assess the progress that U.S. manufacturers are making in adopting strategies required to compete in the global marketplace, and weather the recession. ASMC, made up of the nation’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) centers, has posted its Next Generation Manufacturing Study at www.NGMStudy.com. It asks for input related to customer-focused innovation, systematic continuous improvement, advanced talent management, extended enterprise management and other topics. Order Bender Replacement Parts Online

Haller International Technologies, Inc., Detroit, MI, has launched a website where fabricators can order replacement parts for Pines tube- and pipe-bending machines. Haller expects to begin offering replacement parts for other bending-equipment manufacturers—Eaton Leonard, Smith Machinery and others—soon. The website, www.bendersupply.com, includes assembly drawings and individual part numbers and details for several models of benders; search capability by part number; and an RFQ area.

German Firm to Construct Texas Aluminum-Fabricating
Plant to Build Wind-Tower Equipment

Zarges Aluminum Systems GmbH will begin construction of a manufacturing facility in Amarillo, TX, later this year. The 80,000-sq-.ft. plant, to be completed by the end of the year, will manufacture aluminum internal equipment for wind towers—ladders, work platforms, scaffolding and the like. The plant will be located on more than 8.5 acres in the Amarillo Economic Development Corp.’s CenterPort Business Park. Zarges is working with Amarillo College to develop welding, technical training and robotics and automation programs to help train its future workforce. Learn more at www.zarges-alusys.com.
