Lincoln Electric to Host Laser Welding
and Cutting Seminar

On Thursday, March 24, 2011, The Lincoln Electric Co. Automation Division, Cleveland, OH, will host a one-day seminar on laser welding and cutting that will include hands-on demonstrations of the technology. Agenda topics include the economics of laser processing, and factors to consider when evaluating the use of lasers for various applications. American and Iron Steel Institute
Adds New Member

ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, Calvert, AL, has joined the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Washington, D.C., and its CEO, Christoph Lackinger, joined the AISI Board of Directors. ThyssenKrupp’s Alabama plant launched in 2007. In July, 2010, its hot-strip mill began operations; a cold-rolling mill started up in September, 2010; and this winter its hot-dipped galvanizing lines are scheduled to begin production. The plant should be fully operational this spring, with annual rated capacity of 4.7 million tons of carbon-steel coiled product; www.thyssenkruppsteelusa.com. AISI is online at www.steel.org.
