IMTS Shortens to Six-Day Format

Beginning with the 2008 show, the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), held every four years in Chicago, IL, becomes a six-day event. The show, produced by AMT—The Association For Manufacturing Technology, McLean, VA, shortened the show by two days in response to exhibitor feedback. CAD/CAM Vendor Vero Intl. Relocates

UK-based Vero Intl., a supplier of CAD/CAM software for die and mold makers, has moved its U.S. headquarters from Bingham Farms, MI, to Wixom, MI. The move gives the firm more room to accommodate its growing staff as well as the staff of SMIRTware, Inc., a company Vero acquired in August 2005 that develops die-manufacturing software for the automotive industry. GM to Make $32-Million Hydroforming Investment

Included in the General Motors announcement of a few days ago to invest $545 million in five Michigan assembly and component plants is a $32-million investment to update the hydroforming equipment in its Pontiac metal-stamping plant. The plant hydroforms components for the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky roadsters. Other investments include $152 in the GM Ypsilanti transmission plant, and $138 million to expand the body shop of the Lansing Grand River assembly plant.
