Denso Expanding U.S. and Mexican Operations

Monday, February 13, 2012

As announced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Denso International America, Inc., Southfield, MI, will expand its U.S. manufacturing product portfolio and research and development capabilities. The efforts will result in the creation of approximately 50 new engineering positions in the next 18 months and more than 100 new manufacturing positions by the end of 2013. For example, this year the firm will begin manufacturing stop/start starters at its plant in Maryville, TN, and in 2014-2015 it plans to begin manufacturing power electronic hybrid components at an existing U.S. facility.

In other news, Denso announced plans to build a third manufacturing plant in Mexico—this one in Silao, Guanajuato. The plant will manufacture, beginning in October 2013, HVAC units for automotive customers in central Mexico. The 25,600-sq.-m facility is expected to employ more than 400 people by 2015; www.densomedia-na.com/.
