Effective in January, Thermacut, Inc. becomes the new corporate name for Zap Plasmatherm, the direct division of Tatras, Inc. The name change places Zap Plasmatherm and Thermacut brand names under the Thermacut, Inc. umbrella. The company is based in Claremont, NH, and provides plasma-cutting and welding accessories, consumables and torches.
California Service Center Adds New Blanking Line

Douglas Steel, Vernon, CA, has purchased a high-speed multi-cut blanking line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL. The 60-in.-wide by ¼-in. line incorporates a Bradbury hydraulic leveler with its Flat Trak system, a coil car, uncoiler, inspection table, expandable arbor slitter, adjustable shear, stacker and pallet loader and discharge conveyors. It produces parts with length tolerances to plus or minus 0.005 in. at speeds to 400 ft./min.

Taking over Tier One Plant in Alabama

Oxford Automotive Inc, Troy, MI, has sold its newly renovated stamping plant in McCalla, AL, to Corporacion Gestamp of Madrid. The 382,000-sq.-ft. plant, near Birmingham, has a $1.3 billion contract to provide underbody assemblies to Mercedes, and employs more than 200.
