Webinar: How to Specify Robot Systems
Friday, December 07, 2012
Here’s a free 1-hr. webinar, Thursday, December 13, 12:00 PM EST, covering robot specification and how fabricators can ensure they select the right robots for the tasks at hand. Come away understanding robot reach, work envelope, payload, inertia, moment of arm and cycle time. Presented by the Robotic Industries Association with support from its members ABB, Kawasaki and Omron STI, the webinar also addresses the concepts of mathematical modeling and simulation.

Penn Stainless Adds Big-Bed Plasma-Cutting Machine
Friday, December 07, 2012
The new plasma-cutting machine at stainless-steel service center Penn Stainless, Quakertown, PA, marries two Koike Aronson Versagraph Millennium Series Model 3100 cutting machines with a common rail system to offer a cutting envelope 10 ft. wide by 65 ft. long. Using Hypertherm’s HPR800XD HyPerformance plasma technology, the machine is rated for 6.25-in.-thick stainless-steel plate, and leaves a slight 1- to 3-deg. bevel on thick plate, compared to a 7- to 10-deg. bevel using standard plasma-cutting technology. Penn Stainless operates out of a 200,000-sq.-ft. facility supplying plate, sheet, bar, pipe and other stainless-steel and high-temperature metal alloys.
