Reliant Steel & Aluminum Co., Los Angeles, CA, has reached an agreement to acquire Industrial Metals and Surplus, Inc., a metals service center headquartered in Atlanta, GA, and a related company, Athens Steel, Inc. of Athens, GA. Industrial processes and distributes carbon-steel structurals, flat-rolled and ornamental iron products, and had FY 2005 net sales of $72 million. Management teams at Industrial and Athens are expected to remain in place. Reliance Steel & Aluminum, a metals service center supplying processed ferrous and nonferrous materials, maintains a network of more than 160 locations in 37 states as well as Belgium, Canada, China and South Korea. CNC Engineering Software Unit
Forms Separate Company

CNC Engineering, Inc., Enfield, CT, has announced that a former software unit of the company has emerged as a separate company, CNC Innovations, LLC, to focus solely on the development of software to enhance manufacturing productivity. In 2000, after success developing PC-to-CNC communications products such as Easytalk and Focal*Point DNC, CNC Innovations was absorbed into its parent company. Today as a standalone business, CNC Innovations is owned and managed by Jim Smith and Gary Pray, who were with the original CNC Innovations.
