ABMyr Expands, Opens New Fab Shop

A family-owned manufacturer of industrial paint-finishing systems since 1920, ABMyr Industries, Belleville, MI, has invested more than $2 million to build and equip a 50,000-sq.-ft. metal-fabrication, prototyping and production center within its plant. The company expects its new fabrication center—which offers laser cutting, press-brake bending, forming and welding capabilities—to create 38 new jobs by 2011. Dubbed ABMyr Laser Design & Fabrication, the facility can process sheet and plate to 1 in. thick to provide parts and assemblies and provide rapid-prototyping services. Uptick in Aircraft-Engine Demand
Creates Job Opportunities for Machinists

Rolls-Royce, Indianapolis, IN, announced plans to hire 100 additional machinists at its military-aircraft engine-manufacturing plant. The company held a job fair on December 13 at its UAW Training Center, a 68,000-sq.-ft. facility on site at its jet-engine plant in Indianapolis, to seek operators of lathes, grinders, mills, drills and other machining equipment. The training center boasts 12 classrooms, computer labs, machine shops, a 500-seat auditorium and offices for 45 training staff.
