New Autosteel.org Makes Finding Answers Easier

Monday, November 07, 2005

The Automotive Applications Committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has completed the third revision of its website, www.autosteel.org, which contains information on new advanced high-strength steels in automotive applications. The site is part of the committee’s strategic objective to build technically oriented partnerships with automotive manufacturers. Ultimately the work resulting from these partnerships is reported at the website. “Traffic (on the site) has grown 400 percent in the past two years,” says Ron Krupitzer, senior director of automotive applications for AISI. “The new website is based on a content-management system that not only gives us much better management of web content, but it makes it easier for visitors to find answers to their steel questions. Part of making it easier is to help visitors avoid having to wade through data they have already seen. Visitors can now register and personalize their experience at the site.” Upon logging in, visitors will see the most recent information posted since their last visits.

Because an increasing number of manufacturers use robots side-by-side with other manufacturing equipment, the robot risk-assessment application has been integrated into designsafe version 4. A free demo of the software is available at www.roboticsonline.com and at www.designsafe.com.
