Global Tailored-Blank Providers Unite

Arcelor Mittal and Noble International Ltd., Warren, MI, North America's largest producer of laser-welded steel products, have agreed to combine their laser-welded tailored-blank businesses. As a result, Arcelor Mittal will become the largest stockholder of Noble. Arcelor Mittal’s tailored-blank business, TBA, is a leading European manufacturer of tailored blanks, and includes nine plants in Europe, one in the United States and a joint venture in China. Noble ( operates 12 production facilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia.

Denman & Davis Adds Plate-Cutting Capacity

Steel-service center Denman & Davis, Clifton, NJ, has installed an upgraded 12-ft. Oliver saw into its facility in Albany, NY, increasing capacity by 25 percent for supply of saw-cut steel plate. The saw can cut plate to 8 in. thick at a maximum width of 12 ft. The facility has seen increased demand from the power-generation and aerospace industries. For more, visit

MetalAsia Metalworking Show Coming in March

The Singapore Expo will host MTA2007-MetalAsia, an exhibition and conference for users of machine tools and other metalworking equipment, March 28-31, 2007. The event is expected to draw 950 companies from 35 countries, including pavilions set up by groups from Germany, UK, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia. Key exhibitors include Amada, Bruderer, Mazak, Agie Charmilles and Sandvik. Held in conjunction with the show will be Automation2007, as well as OutSource & Subcon2007, featuring displays from contract manufacturers and subcontracting-service providers. Learn more at
