Great Designs in Steel 2010 Call for Abstracts

The American Iron and Steel Institute has put out its official call for papers for the 2010 edition of its annual Great Designs in Steel event, scheduled for May 5, 2010, in Livonia, MI. The all-day program will feature technical presentations on new steel technologies, including advanced high-strength steels, automotive safety and manufacturing technologies. To be considered as a presenter, submit a 200- to 350-word abstract by December 22, 2009, to Deanna Lorincz--dlorincz@steel.org. Abstracts should include presentation title, author name(s), mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address.

Oakland Univ. to Host Tool and Die Forum

On November 17, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oakland University’s School of Business Administration, Rochester Hills, MI, will host The Future of Tool and Die: An Industry Dialogue. The free event will explore the relationships between tool and die companies and their customers in the automotive value chain. The event begins with presentations from representatives of Ford Motor Co., Takata Stamping and the Center for Automotive Research.
