Demand in the United States for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment is projected to increase 5.1 percent annually through 2015, according to a new study from The Freedonia Group, Cleveland, OH. Stimulating market growth is rising interest in energy-efficient HVAC systems and regulatory changes, as well as public and private incentives that encourage investments in upgrades to more energy-efficient models. BMW Presents First-Ever Supplier Awards

Nine companies have earned Supplier Innovation Awards from BMW. Among them: Schuler AG, which received the Productivity prize for its crossbar servo-press. Other suppliers earning recognition include Durr AG for its dry separation process for paint shops, and Novelis AG for its layered-aluminum sheetmetal production process. Learn more

BMW Invests in Stamping Process-Planning Software

BMW.s Cost Engineering Group in Munich, Germany, will soon upgrade its ability to determine optimum process layouts by investing in Formingsuite Process Planner software from Forming Technologies Inc. (FTI), Burlington, Ontario, Canada. The FTI software will help BMW engineers create process plans and predict the number of operations, and then calculate die load, press size, tonnage and energy. It also enables die costing as well as calculation of severity indexes to reflect the complexity of operations for progressive and transfer dies. Learn more at
