Nucor Corp., Charlotte, NC, announced that CEO Daniel R. DiMicco will step down to become executive chairman of the steelmaker, and pass the title of CEO on to current president and COO John J. Ferriola, a 20-yr. Nucor employee. The move becomes effective January 1, 2013. Nucor manufactures carbon- and alloy-steel bars, beams, sheet and plate, as well as steel piling and joists, decking and other products;

Carl Zeiss, Maple Grove, MN, appointed Mark Smith vice president of sales for the firm’s industrial metrology group in North America. The firm manufactures CMMs, sensors, software and related metrology products;

Trumpf Inc., Farmington, CT, named Christopher Gildehaus northwest direct sales representative, responsible for machine- and power-tool sales in the Northwest United States, particularly Northern California and Northern Nevada;

Steel-service center MidWest Materials, Perry, OH, named Kerrie A. Rusnak logistics manager. She’ll plan and execute daily dispatch of truck, rail and driver assignments. The firm, a distributor of hot-rolled, cold-rolled and coated steel products, also named Mike Alley Jr. logistics coordinator;

Lucas-Milhaupt Acquires Polish Maker of Metal Alloys

Brazing-materials supplier Lucas-Milhaupt, Inc., Milwaukee, WI, has acquired Inmet Metal Processing, Gliwice, Poland. Inmet manufactures silver-, copper- and nickel-based materials in strip, wire, plate, anode and rivet form for specialized applications including metal joining, electrical contacts and plating. Diemaker Boosts Capacity by Adding a Pair of CMMs

Future Products, Clawson, MI, a manufacturer of precision die tooling and machined components, has acquired a pair of Zeiss Contura G2 AKTIV coordinate-measuring machines.
