Aida Installs World’s Largest
Servo Transfer Press

Automotive supplier Kamtek, a Cosma company (formerly Ogihara) located in Birmingham, AL, has installed what is reportedly the world’s largest servo transfer press, a 3000-ton Aida model. The press, which boasts a 236 by 98-in. bolster, is driven by four servo motors providing 30 strokes/min. in normal operation and 35 strokes/min. in “pendulum mode,” where the slide does not cycle for the entire stroke. Great Designs in Steel 2012 Call for Abstracts

The Steel Market Development Institute invites the submission of abstracts for technical presentations at the 11th annual Great Designs in Steel seminar, slated for May 16, 2012, at Laurel Manor Conference Center, Livonia, MI. Abstracts should be 200 to 300 words, presenting facts that “are new and significant and include results achieved, if applicable.” Submit (by January 16, 2012) to Deanna Lorincz, dlorincz@steel.org. Metalformer Adds Servo-Electric Press Brake

Waukesha Metal Products, Sussex, WI, has added a Cone 900 servo-electric press brake (from Finland’s CoastOne) to its lineup of metal-fabrication equipment.
