The PresencePlus P4 vision sensor from Banner Engineering, Minneapolis, MN, has been selected as a finalist for the 2004 Product Design & Development magazine Engineering awards. The P4 is a self-contained vision sensor—similar in size to traditional photoelectric sensors—that performs 360-deg. Non-fixtured product inspections. Award criteria call for products to require significant engineering and be uniquely qualifies to perform designated functions.

Northern Industries to Retrofit Cut-To-Length Line

Steel service center Northern Industries, Crestwood, IL, has chosen Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL, to retrofit a Northern cut-to-length line.
Red Bud will incorporate its heavy-gauge hydraulic grip-feed system and variable rake shear into the line, allowing Northern to supply closer length and squareness tolerances on hot-rolled product in thicknesses to 0.312 in.
Stamper Interplex Opens North China Facility

Interplex Industries, a Flushing, NY-based supplier of metal stamped, plated and plastic-molded components and assemblies, has opened a facility in the North China city of Dalian. The 20,000-sq.-m. facility, Interplex Electronic (Dalian) Co., Ltd., features 5000 sq. m. of manufacturing space and will produce tooling and offer stamping and heattreating services to electronic, automotive and communication industries. Near term the company plans to offer electroplating, injection molding and assembly.
