AddisonMckee Joins Consortium
to Validate Welding Technology
Thursday, October 07, 2004
AddisonMckee, Inc., Wilmington, OH, has joined a consortium to validate Delphi Corp.’s Deformation Resistance Welding (DRW) technology. DRW uses traditional equipment to weld dissimilar metal-alloy tubes to solids and sheetmetal to create leak-tight joints with uniform weld strength. The DRW method reportedly reduces costs while increasing design flexibility and enhancing weld quality.
AddisonMckee, a producer of tube-bending and forming equipment and tooling, has been working with Delphi to develop a tube-forming application suitable for the DRW process, which allows for the creation of atomically bonded solid-state joints as the mating surfaces are welded together. AddisonMckee will supply the tube-forming technology and tooling to be used during the customer-validation process.
