The International Iron & Steel Institute’s (IISI) Committee on Automotive Applications has issued Version 3 of its Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) Application Guidelines. The publication discusses AHSS metallurgy and describes several grades of automotive sheet steels. The forming section explains forming modes, tool design, forming limits, springback and press requirements. And, the joining section covers welding—resistance, induction and laser—as well as brazing, adhesive bonding, mechanical joining and hybrid joining. IISI offers the publication online at

Precision Finishing Company Opens in Dayton

Lap Tech Industries, Lake Wylie, SC, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Dayton, OH, providing precision-finishing services. The company offers traditional and high-speed lapping, precision brush deburring, thru-feed grinding, polishing and double-disk grinding. Materials processed include ceramics, steels, carbides and powdered metals.
