The inaugural Automation Technology Expo (ATX), launched by Canon Communications, will be held June 13-15, 2005, at the Javits Convention Center, New York, New York. Visitors can browse custom automation and motion-control products, control software, robotics, vision-inspection systems, sensors, assembly systems, drives and motors.
The show will co-locate with the following events: Medical Design & Manufacturing East, EastPack, Plastec East and Atlantic Design and Manufacturing.

Automation Merger—Automated Concepts
and Meritage Manufacturing Solutions

With the goal of offering integrated automation systems to industrial customers, Automated Concepts Inc., Council Bluffs, IA, has merged with Meritage Manufacturing Solutions (MMS), Warrenville, IL. The new company operates as Automated Concepts Inc. (ACI) under the umbrella of Sierra Concepts Corp, owner of MMS.
Capabilities offered by ACI include consultative engineering analysis, system engineering and robotic system design, prototype fabrications, system build and integration, installation and startup, training, preventive maintenance programs and system configuration. The company’s 100 employees are working at facilities in Iowa and Illinois with a new 65,000-sq.-ft. facility in Council Bluffs set to open next spring.

AMT Offers Machine-Tool Economic Handbook

AMT-The Association for Manufacturing Technology has made available its 2004-2005 Economic Handbook of The Machine Tool Industry, offering data on domestic and international machine-tool industries as well as their respective economies. The 300-plus-page book, compiled through interaction with hundreds of domestic and international sources, breaks out capital-equipment purchases for several major consuming industries. Domestic data cover employment, machine-tool shipments, machine tools in use and the financial condition of the industry.
