Free Machine-Guarding Evaluation

The Park Nicollet Institute, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is looking for small- to medium-sized metalforming and fabricating companies to take part in its free, nonregulatory machine-guarding program. Participants will receive a confidential shop evaluation with workers completing a brief questionnaire. In addition, some shops will receive free safety training. According to institute officials, participation will help shops in identifying ways to control machine hazards, solving various guarding problems and developing better working relationships concerning shop safety. Participants also will receive a certificate from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Again, the institute maintains that all information will be kept confidential.
