Great Britain Welcomes First SCS Coil Line

Servosteel, a toll processor in Dudley, West Midlands, UK, recently went online with the first SCS coil line to be installed in that country. The SCS line, an environmentally and budget-friendly alternative to pickling and oiling, was designed and manufactured by Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL. The process employs a controlled brushing off of all surface scale except for a micro-thin layer. Servosteel’s new line can process coils to 72 in. wide of stock to 0.315 in. thick. Learn more at

Aida-America Celebrates Expansion

Earlier this month, Aida-America Corp. celebrated the grand opening of its facility expansion and 10 years of manufacturing in Huber Heights, OH, near Dayton. Also being celebrated: the 90oth anniversary of parent company Aida-Engineering Ltd. The facility expansion totals 17,600 sq. ft. and allows the firm to bring large-component welding inhouse and to increase its capacity for large-component machining. Learn more at

Lincoln Electric Earns Presidential Recognition

Key executives from welding-equipment supplier Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc., Cleveland, OH, recently were honored as a President’s E-Star Award recipient, for the firm’s ongoing excellence in exporting products manufactured in the United States. Receiving the award from President Bush at a White House ceremony were Lincoln’s chairman, president and CEO John M. Stropki; senior vice president—sales and marketing Richard J. Seif; and senior vice president—global engineering and U.S. operations George Blankenship. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the award, created by President Kennedy in 1961.
