Global Steel Organization Takes New Name

The International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI), Washington, DC, has changed its name to World Steel Association. The association represents some 180 steel producers (including 18 of the world’s 20 largest steel companies) national and regional steel-industry associations, and steel research institutes. It also has elected the following new officers for 2009: chairman—Lakshmi Mittal of ArcelorMittal; vice chairmen—Ku-Taek Lee of Posco; Paolo Rocca of Techint Group; and John Surma of U.S. Steel.
