Hexagon AB of Sweden to Purchase Romer CimCore

Hexagon AB has entered into a formal agreement to purchase Romer CimCore Inc., which has operations in Carlsbad, CA, and Farmington Hills, MI. Romer CimCore focuses on portable metrology, manufacturing and measuring equipment used in the automotive, aerospace and general industrial markets. Products include portable coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), software and accessories. Customers include ABB, Boeing, Caterpillar, Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Electric, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen as well as their suppliers.
“The purchase of Romer CimCore solidifies Hexagon’s position within the articulated arm market,” states Bill Gruber, president of Hexagon Metrology North America. “It’s an important and growing hardware segment, and a perfect complement to our bridge-CMM lines.”

(SMC), Chicago, IL, has signed a distribution agreement with Toledo Press Co. and a top Chinese press builder, Jier Machine Tool Group, to distribute and service new presses and press parts by Jier. Jier offers a full line, including OBI presses, blanking presses, and progressive-die, tandem-line and transfer presses, from 350 to 4500 tons.
