Denso Replaces Gap-Frame Presses
with Straightside, Prolongs Die Life
Tuesday, October 10, 2006
The Denso International America plant in Battle Creek, MI, recently installed a fully integrated stamping line from Sutherland Presses, El Segundo, CA. The line, which features a Sutherland CRS-Series counter-rotating straightside press and an AB-Wintriss-based integrated control solution, replaces a line that featured 220-ton two-point gap-frame presses. Denso, which produces automotive heating and cooling components and systems at the plant, expects that the change to a straightside press will improve die life for its 38-station progressive dies.
